DIIP Autonomous Surveillance Prototype

We are proud to showcase that two of our university students, Helena and Tristan who are participating in the 2022/23 Defence Industry Internship Program (DIIP), have made significant progress on their project. Halfway through the program the duo has already developed an initial prototype for an autonomous passive surveillance and tracking system.

The system designed by the students utilises high-quality cameras, each connected to a Raspberry Pi, and uses the Python coding language to operate. With the help of a graphical user interface (GUI), the system can be programmed to detect objects of interest and track personnel. This capability will be instrumental in passive surveillance activities and aid in the safety and security of critical infrastructure.

MCS is proud of the progress Helena and Tristan have made so far and continues to support them in their endeavours. The DIIP offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the defence industry and create innovative solutions. We look forward to seeing the final product from these bright young minds and are confident that they will make a significant contribution to the field.
